As part of learnmed's continuous commitment to improving medical and health services for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders communities, we are proud to announce that we now support The Fred Hollows Foundation, which aims to end avoidable blindness and improve the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. Statistics show that 94% of vision loss for adults in these communities is preventable or treatable – in most cases, vision loss is due to cataract, trachoma, diabetic retinopathy and uncorrected refractive error (needing glasses). The Fred Hollows Foundation provides access to culturally appropriate eye care services to remote and underserved Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and learnmed is proud to support this important work.
